"James Edward Keith, vice-president, Universal Fiber Co., born Noble County, Ohio 1847, son of Benjamin and Lydia M. Keith; education public schools in Iowa; married Emily Igel of Chicago Nov 27, 1878; three children, Roy, Gertrude, Alice. Served in the 8th Cavalry 1863-65, engaged in about 15 battles, completed education at Cornell College, Mt.Vernon, Iowa. Engaged in business pursuits and for 20 years was a common merchant of the firm of Price & Keith on South Water St, prior to 1903; aided in the organization of the American Hemp Brake & Fiber Co., 1904, and president 1904-07, whose name was changed to Universal Fiber Co., of which he is vice-president.
